Installing the Lights Out Extension

LightsOut is a new extension included with Clients & Profits Pro / Job Tracker 4.04 and Clients & Profits Classic 4.2 (and later versions) that improves the timer functions built into Clients & Profits. The timer function is used primarily to automatically quit Clients & Profits at a specified time at night to allow for the database backup. The LightsOut extensions (which are called "DLLs" in Windows) are automatically installed by the Clients & Profits installer. If you manually install the Clients & Profits update, however, the LightsOut extensions are not installed automatically. In this case, you'll need to also manually installed the LightsOut extensions on each Mac or PC that uses Clients & Profits. The following instructions explain how to manually download and install the Lights Out extensions. Lights Out for Clients & Profits -    Lights Out  Windows / Mac To install the Lights Out extensions on Windows: 1 Click on the "Windows" link (see above) to download the extensions. 2 When prompted, save the .zip file to your desktop then decompress it using WinZip or similar utility. 3 Move the two DLLs, named LightsOut and LightsOutCmds, into the "EXTERNAL" sub-directory inside your Clients & Profits directory. 4 Repeat steps 1-2 for every PC that uses Clients & Profits. 5 Drag the LightsOut.zip installer file to the recycle bin. To install the Lights Out extensions on a Macintosh: 1 Click on the "Mac" link (see above) to download the extensions. Your browser should automatically decompress the installer, creating a "lightsout folder" on your Mac's desktop. If not, you'll need to use Stuffit Expander to decompress the files. 2 Open the "lightsout" folder then move two extensions, named LightsOut and LightsOutCmds, into the "Clients & Profits Extensions" folder inside your Clients & Profits folder. 3 Repeat steps 1-2 for every Mac that uses Clients & Profits. 4 Drag the "lightsout folder" to the trash.
