Since Clients & Profits was
designed especially for the advertising industry, you'll
probably feel familiar with it after only a few days.
It's made to move you smoothly through the steps that
every job goes through: estimating, trafficking, costing,
and billing--;the same steps you go through now. But
instead of using a manual system of job jackets and
forms, everything will be in Clients & Profits.
Renumber
The Renumber utility lets you change a job number, task code, client
number, vendor number, staff persons initials, status codes, or
one jobs client. Ordinarily, these numbers cant be changed
for good reason: a job number, for example, could appear on hundreds
of job tasks, job costs, purchase orders, and client invoices.
Verify/Recover
The verify/recover utilities fix errors caused by system crashes, disk
failures, network interruptions, and other various hardware problems
that can corrupt totals in your database. Unlike Data Utilities, verify/recover
doesnt reorganize or repair damaged data. Instead, verify/recover
simply verifies that your account balances and job totals add up --
if not, Clients & Profits recovers the totals.
Daily
Messages Daily messages replace the standard message on your
Information Center window. The standard message, which is entered in
Agency Information, appears automatically when the Information Center
window is opened. But if you create daily messages, they will be shown
instead.
Purge...
The Purge utility erases old records from your databasepermanently.
This utility can purge paid A/R and A/P invoices, checks, job tickets,
time sheets, and purchase orders from your database. Purging old data
doesnt shrink the size of your database. This helps prevent fragmentation
of your database, which lowers its performance. Instead, archiving clears
out space within the database for new records.

Export
Data is used to extract selected client, job,
cost, and accounting information from your Clients &
Profits database, saving it as text files that can be
imported into another database, spreadsheet, or word
processor.
You
can verify/recover
accounts balances for one client, vendor, or G/L account.
When you know precisely which account is incorrect,
enter the account number.
Animated
messages get attention. The daily message scrolls,
flashes, moves to grab the users attention whenever
the Information Center is opened. Use these messages
to keep staffers informed about meetings, news, events,
etc.

Revamping your task table? Here's how...
When you want to change a task's code and ALL of its
activity, e.g., time sheets, a/p invoices, etc., choose
Setup > Utilities > Re-number. Using Update Existing
Job Tasks in the Task Table only changes a job task's
detail, such as billing rate, markup, etc., not the
code itself. If you edit a code directly in the Task
Table, it won't update on jobs and related activity.
Daily messages = timely communication
A daily message relays timely information to your staffers
through the Information Center. A different daily
message can be added for any day of the year. Daily
messages replace the animated Information Center message,
if one is set up. As an added bonus, there's a
daily time card message, too. (Choose Setup >
Utilities > Daily Messages.)
