Creatives, AEs can access their shop's C&P database using Netscape, Internet Explorer June 10, 2000 -- ATLANTA, GA -- The HOW Design Conference 2000 was the backdrop for the announcement of My Clients & Profits! , an add-on web server for Clients & Profits. My Clients & Profits! lets creatives, account executives, freelancers, and remote staff members access clients, jobs, traffic, time cards, POs, and expense reports anywhere in the world using only a web browser. My Clients & Profits! opens up the shop's database to any staff member who needs it, wherever they are. "Anyone with an internet connection can open a new job ticket, enter hours on their daily time card, add an expense report, update job traffic, and more from inside the office, at home, from a hotel room, or from a client's conference room," says Mark Robillard, developer of My Clients & Profits! The My Clients & Profits! web server makes it easier to keep breaking job information timely. "The biggest thing is speed, "says Blake Hoss, VP and Creative Director at Pyramid Creative Studios in La Habra, California. "We need to get information into the system as quickly as possible. That's the key. Getting the job logged in, getting the office to work on it, and getting it back into the customers' hands. The quicker that happens, the better we look" to clients. "I'd like to be able to put together estimates when I'm on the road," adds Hoss. "I can sit with a client, gather all the information for the project, then create a creative brief and start the estimate. The rest can be forwarded to an account manager to get the job going." So accessing the shop's Clients & Profits database via the internet makes perfect sense. "Going through a web browser is quicker than remote access -- and it's available to you immediately." Mark Shipley, principal of Smith & Jones Marketing in New York, has been searching for a web-based system for years. "I've looked at [other web-based job tracking systems], and they don't improve the overall function. Without both job tracking and accounting, it doesn't create a critical path and it's all modules." Shipley especially looks forward to web-based time cards. "Time entry is clearly one use, and to be able to pull up and look at a job schedule that clients could view would be great." My C&P! will bring staff members who typically don't use Clients & Profits every day into the system, making it easy for everyone to keep up with new jobs, deadlines, and budgets. "The ability to use a web browser instead of giving up a seat for an artist to enter their time will definitely save us money." The My Clients & Profits! web server serves customizable home pages that can be tailored for staff members, clients, and vendors. The staff home page includes links to client, vendor, and job lookup lists, company and industry news, a company calendar, and an online employee handbook.
