From the very first 1/4 page advertisement in Advertising Age magazine, to the full-page spread in HOW Magazine's Design Annual - it's all here. Click on any thumbnail below for a closer look at these classic advertisements from Clients & Profits. Unless noted, all ads were designed by Mark Robillard and illustrated by Peter Horjus.

"Agency Management for Macintosh"
AdWeek (1986)
These tiny ads ran in the back of the magazine, in the classified section. Usually we were the only software in Adweek. Back then we were the only job tracking system for the then-new Mac Plus. The "happy Mac" graphic was cutting edge at the time.

"A Complete Management System"
MacUser (1987)
This was the first expensive display ad we ever ran. The floppy disc illustration was very cool at the time. The company was still called Working Computer.
"A Complete Management System"
MacUser (1987)
This 1/3-page ad was very successful. Note the strategic use of color, which costs a lot extra but was so worth it.
"If You Had Clients & Profits"
AdWeek (1988)
The black 1986 ad was replaced with a series of largest classified ads with punchy headlines and iconic graphics. Adweek provided a constant source of productive leads. The same ad in Ad Age did nothing..
"Software Even Creatives Can Live With"
Communication Arts (1992)
The "two-guys" was the first 4-color marketing campaign we did. Variations of this style were used in both ads, postcards, and brochures. Designed by Rosen/Kennedy in Newport Beach.
"Our Shop Grows Because Our Creative Side and Business Work Together"
HOW (1996)
This effective black & white quarter-pager ran for several years and generated thousands of leads. Designer: Mark Robillard.
"Everybody Needs Clients And Profits"
Communications (2000)
These provocative full-color ads ran at a time of explosive dot-com created growth in the ad business. This series helped C&P reached record sales during the Y2K. Designer: Mark Robillard. Illustrations: Peter Horjus.
"Everybody Loves Clients And Profits"
HOW (2002)
This classic ad was created for the HOW Business Conference's show guide. Designer: Mark Robillard. Illustrations: Peter Horjus.
"Drop What You're Doing"
HOW (2002)
This ad was the first in a series that made the point that juggling different systems to do what Clients & Profits just doesn't work. Designer: Mark Robillard. Illustrations: Peter Horjus.
Stop Juggling, Start Performing
HOW (2004)
This 1/2-page version of the "juggler" series continued the theme of waste and inefficiency. Designer: Mark Robillard. Illustrations: Peter Horjus.

"Master The Madness"
Step-by-Step Graphics (2004)
This ad ran for sixs months to promote the new all Clients & Profits ASAP, a low-cost web-based studio manager.
